What is your opinion on the western genre and do you think it should return. Personally, I love westerns. Its a lawless land where you have to survive, not live. It's a place where good and evil is a fine line that you need to cross every now and again. The entire world is an adventure for you to make of it what you will. It was a very popular genre in the 50's and even 60's, but then it just died off. They have made a few "New" western movies in past years like the remake on True Grit and Open Range. I hope westerns make a come back because TCM has shown a good majority of them :\

I never really cared much for westerns, just never saw many and didn't feel the need to. Playing Red Dead and watching Firefly is as close as i get

Well "Cowboys" were just that people who travelled with cattle from one place to another. They didn't go around looking for fight as unions fought for them. And they only ruled the range for about 20 years.

Westerns is probably my least fave genre of tv/movie tbh. Probs can blame Hollywood for that though, they dont care much for historical accucary. ...So I guess thats why the Americans love it so

I too have never really been a fan of westerns, my dad however really likes them. I'm not sure what it is about them that makes me dislike them, possibly the dialogue. Saw the latest version of True Grit though and it was rather good.

Can't say I'm a Western fan, actually. Never seen the appeal. Horses, rugged men and gunfights in a not too distant part of U.S.A.'s past, it just doesn't catch my interest. I don't think I've ever even seen a whole Western movie, because even the few times I've tried, I've simply ended up distracted by other things, if nothing else than simply my own thoughts. That's not a quality that's going to earn any genre my adoration.
